An entry on Salon.com's War Room blog does a better job of explaining why I thought McCain couldn't lose with the race card debate than I did a couple days ago. For most of the last twenty years, accusations of 'playing the race card' against African-Americans seem to have had far more impact than charges that whites are exploiting racial fears.
